The opening ceremony for the customized Medicine programme was conducted virtually by the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Philippines. This ceremony is conducted for the students who are entering into their Medicine programme after their completion of Pre-Medicine in University of Perpetual Help System Dalta. The virtual ceremony was attended by all Indian students who are entering their MD programme this year.
Welcome Speech
Dean Dr. Emelita Gatmaitan, MD, FPPS
The welcome speech was delivered by the Dean Dr. Emelita Gatmaitan, MD, FPPS after wishing all the administrators of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Philippines she started her speech about the COVID-19 pandemic and we must not stop the progression of education.
Then Dr. Emilita welcomed all the students who attended the ceremony. She stated that all the classes this academic year will be conducted virtually. Then started to introduce the courses the students will undergo in their respected academic year.
Dr. Emilita stated that, for the 1st year students it will be a difficult journey, Because medicine is a programme of knowledge, the students must understand the concepts of memorizing and engulf knowledge. Memorizing and integrating is a main factor all students must master in their 1st year. These students will learn the Anatomic, Biochemical and Physiologic processes.
For the 2nd year students they will learn to realize the normal standards of newborns, adults and adolescents. They also will learn about the microbiology of diseases, Histology and pathologic mechanism of illness in their new year.
For the 3rd year students they will learn to compare and formulate diseases and learn about common diseases encountered in clinical practice.
For the 4th year students they will be entering the clinical trials. The university administration is in talks with the CHED for conducting the programme normally this year.
She also thanked the faculties innovative ideas for conducting the classes without any hindrance last academic year.
Greetings From School Director
Dr. Arnaldo S. De Guzman, the school director of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Philippines greeted all the students and welcomed them to the important orientation. In his speech he says, all the students must develop new mindsets and adjust to the new normal. Coping up with the new changes and the new adjustments may be a very challenging process, but with God’s grace all can adjust.
Inspirational Speech By Alumni Student
The inspirational speech was given by Dr. Vijay Kumar Reddy Ileni a former student of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Philippines. He was also the first president of the International Student Council. Dr. Vijay cleared his FMGE and is now pursuing his PG and is aspiring to be a neurosurgeon.
In his speech Dr. Vijay Kumar Reddy shared his experience he had in the college and gave useful tips for the future graduates from the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

International Medical Student Council Introduction
The members of the International Medical Student Council for the year 2020 & 2021 were introduced by the president Amirthalingam Ojeash. The council is to clear any queries or solve any problems faced by the international students studying MBBS in the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
Closing Remarks
The closing remarks were given by Dr. Charlene Robelle Locaylocay-Ramos MD, DPOGS. In her speech she mentions the pandemic situation and how to overcome these situations and concentrate on education. Dr. Charlene also motivates all the students to aspire to be a 5star physician, a manager and a community leader. Dr. Charlene also encourages the students to focus on their studies and let the University Of Perpetual Help System help them in the process.
