BS-MD Pattern of Study in Philippines

The present education system in Philippines is 10 + 4 where degree course is followed after 10 years of school education. After completion of 14 years of study, they will be admitted to MD course. An Indian student who has studied under 10+2 education system should enrol in tailor made BS course before enrolling for MD course. Additional credits are given to students who have completed +2 which reduces the course duration of BS course to three semesters. In short, Indian students will do BS+ MD course. This is considered as equivalent of MBBS course by Medical council of India.

The total duration of medical course is 5 and half years for Indian students who have completed class 12 with a background in science. The first 16 months is called pre-medicine program or Bachelor of Science program. The next three years comprises of core medicine and the final year comprises of clinical rotation.

English Speaking Nation
